The glass beads included in this jewel are called “Fiorate” in Venetian technical jargon.

An element of old-looking brass has been inserted. It evokes the typical “spots” pattern at the end of the beads.The so-called “Fiorate” beads are decorated with “avventurine” glass: this glass goes back to the first half of the 17th century. Its etymology (from “ventura”, which means accident, randomness) reminds us that this invention was made by chance, thank to the crystals of copper that, once coagulated, generate an effect of brightness.
In the beginning even the most skilled craftsmen faced great difficulties.
